Atreon Orthopedics’ ROTIUM Used in Over 10,000 Rotator Cuff Surgeries

This fully resorbable implant is made to optimize healing at the tendon-bone interface in rotator cuff repairs.

Atreon Orthopedics announced the successful use of its ROTIUM Bioresorbable Wick in over 10,000 rotator cuff repair surgeries. This achievement highlights ROTIUM’s growing impact as a pioneering solution in orthopedic care. 

ROTIUM is a fully resorbable, synthetic-nanofiber scaffold implant. It is designed to optimize healing at the tendon-bone interface in rotator cuff repairs. ROTIUM supports the body’s natural healing processes by promoting better tissue integration.

It took over 16 years of research in remodeling, using electrospun-engineered scaffolds to create ROTIUM. ROTIUM offers a 100% synthetic solution that fully resorbs within 3-4 months, with no reported adverse reactions in patients.

The technology was featured in a scientific study published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery1, which parallels its clinical efficacy.

Atreon Orthopedics will expand its tissue remodeling platform to new tendon healing applications in the shoulder and beyond, including foot & ankle, knee, and hip, launching new products in early 2025.
